- TYLCV, TSWV & Fol: 1-3
Type
An indeterminate round type tomato hybrid suited to greenhouse or under protection production for the fresh market.
Maturity
Zulani is a medium maturing variety. In Summer plantings the first fruit will mature in 80 - 85 days after transplanting. The date of harvesting may vary by as much as 10 days between early and late season plantings. This needs to be taken into consideration when planning planting schedules under different growing conditions.
Plant Characteristics
Zulani is a strong, vigorous and productive plant with an open growth habit.
Plant Population: Zulani is well suited for greenhouse production as a trellised type. Although highly recommended to be pruned. For optimal results, plants should be pruned to 2 stems in greenhouse production. Pruning will lead to earlier setting and better fruit uniformity. Attention should be given as not to prune too severely during summer as foliage might be reduced leading to possible sun burn damage.
Under protection: the plants could either be trained to a single stem on a supporting string and then layered down, or pruned to two stems and stopped at the desired height. The planting density should be 2-3 plants / stems per m²
Variety Characteristics
Zulani has a very high quality, oblate to deep oblate fruit with an average mass of 140-160g and with thick walls. Zulani is a jointed variety with long shelf life. The fruit are very uniform and a high percentage of first grade could be expected.
Features & Benefits
Zulani has a very high yield potential and constantly achieved between 6-8 yields per plant in trials conducted during 4 consecutive seasons. Zulani stood out as the plant with the best leaf structure and longevity. It showed an open growth habit with vigour and balance. The variety had very high-quality fruit with the ability to set uniform size to the top of the plant. Zulani has the potential to accelerate even further in its last harvest cycles, to out yield any standard to the end.
Disease Resistance:
