At Silver Horizons in Botswana’s Ghanzi District, Irati has been planted over the past few seasons with great success.
Exceptional germination of the seed occurred, resulting in a very uniform and ideal plant population. This, in turn, resulted in above-average, record-setting yields. The quality of the bulbs, too, was of a high standard and improved with time as the onions were stored and cured in-store and on the field in heaps.
Another stand-out variety that is continuing to perform exceptionally in this area is Ngwazi. With high yield potential and excellent colour and quality, Ngwazi can be planted in April.
